Tutu School Brookhaven offers automatic make-up credits for absences, which can be used at any time while enrolled. The school's approach to teaching young children carefully introduces ballet technique while balancing creative and imaginative activities. Students begin learning basic barre exercises midway through the Exploring Ballet division, but still engage in activities like dancing as butterflies and learning ballet stories.

Tutu School teaches students up to eight years old, as this is considered an appropriate age for more serious training. Training at too young an age can lead to bad habits and may cause children to turn away from ballet. The school's focus is on enrichment, not training toddlers to be professional dancers. Pacing a child's progression through divisions ensures they are properly challenged and engaged. The school works to incorporate parent feedback regarding a child's progress.

Every child will participate in class at their own pace within a warm and nurturing environment. Shy students are met where they are and drawn into activities as they become ready. Children often try out activities at home before participating fully in the classroom. Caregiver participation is required in the Baby Ballet division, supporting the dancer physically, cognitively, and emotionally. Caregiver participation is also required in the Tutu Toddlers division, providing physical, cognitive, and emotional support. Exposure to classical music stimulates brain activity and enhances auditory awareness, while regular physical movement increases gross motor development in infants. Tutu Teachers understand that each dancer embraces the experience at their own pace.
